10/1/10

Abby took this photograph for the Attractive/Repulsive assessment.
I chose this picture to represent repulsive. This is nothing at all a repulsive picture, my sister is a beautiful little girl. But what I find repulsive is when young girls are dolled up at a young age. I wanted to represent a “beauty queen” but instead i took a toned down version of the idea. I changed the contrast to make her seem almost like a “porcelain doll” then changed the colors so her eyes where emphasized.

At first glance, this is a really simple photo but i think that's what makes it interesting. I think the colors and the amount of contrasting you used works really well with this image. It makes me feel youthful and innocent but it also creates a sense of loneliness and it kind of makes you wonder what she was thinking or doing when this picture was captured. I like how her eyes pop out at you and that there is not a busy background. Also, the fact that she is somewhat off center creates a wonderful scene. Very well done!
