To take the silhouettes, I turned the exposure down on my camera so that most of the detail was lost in the model. I took pictures of her posing and jumping but this one is definitly a combination of them both. She was either about to jump or just coming back down. The arch in her back and the poof in her skirt make her look like a ballerina. I worked on this photo a lot in photoshop because, originally, the picture was tilted with the horizon line running between the corners. I tilted the whole picture until the horizon line was straight, and then cropped a rectangle into it. The corners where then white so I used the Clone Stamp to bring the images out to the edges. I then applied a Gaussian Blur Overlay with an Opacity around 20%.

  1. this photo is amazing. i like how even though you cant see any detail on the girl herself, there is still alot of detail of her. she almost looks like a ballerina preforming. good use of rule of thirds here. the sky looks amazing with it yellower more by the horizon and it getting bluer and grayer farther up in the sky.

  2. I really really like this photo. I like how beautiful the colors of the sunset are and I like how you can see so much detail of the sillouette but its all in shadow. The way the girl is placed makes the composition really good and it follows the rule of thirds also. I would buy this photo to hang in my room. :)

  3. I love this photo! I like the colors of the sky and the way it is reflected in the water. You used the rule of thirds very well, and I like how the model is really dark along with the strip of land in the background. It makes your eye move across the whole photo. Good job!

  4. This picture is very interesting; I like how it gives off a timeless feel. I also like the time of day the photographer decided to take this at because another time might have ruined the picture. The pose the subject is in gives it more of that relaxing feel.

  5. This photo is really strong because of the silhouette of the girl in the ballet skirt. The sunset in the background gives it that calming feeling. I also like the way that you have the girl not just standing in place and shes bending backwards making it flow through the photo. -MB OHS

  6. The colors of the sunset go very well together and they are not too bright so they dont distract from the rest of the photo. It was very creative how the person in the image is like a silhouette in front of the sunset becuase then the image as a whole isn't too aggressive on the eyes of the beholder.

  8. This is a beautiful picture. I love how you can only see the silouette of the girl. I also like how there is many deep colors in the picture. I like how you placed the girl in a unique setting so it really makes her the main subject in the photo. This is a very good picture.
