Colleen took this photograph.
In my photo class we had to take photos of things that are normally repulsive and really gross and then make them attractive. I found this spiderweb on my car and took a picture of it. I view spiderwebs as really gross things. You usually see spiderwebs in dusty rooms or places that have not been cleaned in awhile. I am also very afraid of spiders and think they are also repulsive, so that's why I used this picture. I then used photoshop to make the photo look even more attractive. I used Gaussian Blur to make the web pop even more, and I also messed around with the saturation of the photo. I then used the clone stamp to make the car more of a solid color, and used the blur tool to get rid of some of the distracting rain drops on the car.

  1. The contrast of this piece really brings out the color and the beads of dew on the web. The blue is really intense and makes the image mysterious. I like it. It is a good example of being repulsive & attractive at the same time.

  2. I really like this picture. I tried to take a picture of a spider web against a black back ground and It didn't turn out good. I also like the blue, it makes the web look bright.

  3. I love this photo. Though it is meant to be repulsive I think it looks beautiful. Usually when one thinks of spiders they are disgusted but this photos shows that all of nature’s creatures are attractive in some way. I like the dew on the web which really brings out the details. I also really like the background in this photo. I'm not really sure what it is but it looks awesome. The picture has a kind of glowing effect that looks really cool. Overall this is a great photo!

  4. I like how the web has water droplets on it and how the light is reflecting off it. The blue makes the repulsive spider web look attractive and makes you want to look at it so i think this was a perfect picture for the project.

  5. I really like how graphic this photo is. It shows alot of detail, especially in the water. The bright colors make the photo brighter and makes it look like it is really sunny outside.

  6. This is a really great photo. I have always wanted to take a picture of a spider web, but I've haven't ever been able to get the right angle. I think that it is very repulsive but at the same time beautiful, so it's a job well done. And I love how you can see the dew or raindrops on the window.

  7. This image looks to have the lomo effect on it and it really makes it stand out in a good way. The fact that the spider web has water droplets on it makes it look attractive even though spider webs are extremely repulsive.
